Substitute Teacher Shakerra Bowe, 22 was arrested and charged with grand theft, forgery, and credit card fraud Thursday morning, by the school board police after a 3 month long investigation.
According to investigators, Bowe opened an American Express account using another teacher’s name and charged up more than $400 worth of merchandise.
The victim, who refused to be identified, believes that Bowe just took all the necessary information right off her desk to open the fraudulent account. Other members of the faculty in the South Dade area where the alleged was a substitute, were also having their identities compromised, adds the victim.
Parents of the school children were surprised about the incident, saying that identity theft was the last thing they expected to happen in a school. "I can't believe this, these teachers are supposed to be role models," said one parent. |
