Id Theft To Mortgage Fraud Case In Virginia

A 40 year old woman buys a house with identification from a wallet theft.

Elizabeth Cabrera-Rivera found the identification of Jose Lara, and used it to purchase a $419,000 townhouse.

Cabrera-Rivera recently pleaded guilty in the Arlington County Circuit Court to identity fraud, credit card theft, conspiracy and obtaining a loan under false pretenses.

Cabrera-Rivera is scheduled to be sentenced November 9th; she faces a minimum 2-year prison sentence on the fraud charge and up to 20 years on the identity theft charge.
