Tara Lynch, age 24, was originally thought to be a suspect in an alleged bank fraud ring. It has since been discovered that Lynch reported her identity stolen to all three credit-reporting agencies last fall.
"This girl was a victim of identity theft and reported it to the bureaus," said Cpl. John Barnett Jr. "At this time, enough information was provided to take her out of it."
Investigators will now move on to the other suspects and try to figure out which one of them impersonated Lynch or if another person was involved. Eighteen individuals in all have been accused of committing fraud against many Sussex County banks. Four of the eighteen have not been caught.
