Thomas Pen, a 20 year old man from Walkhil, has been accused of impersonating a police officer and trying to extort money. He has been charged with identity theft.
The man told victims that he was a police investigator working on a case in which the victim's mane had come up. He demanded money, and received it, on four occasions.
Penn appeared before a town judge and has been sent to Albany County Jail while awaiting a trial appearance on Monday. Police are urging any other victims to come forward, and ask that anyone who may have come in contact with the felon to contact them at 783-3211
